Too bloody right. I was watching only TOOLS and horses about 1am or so, and i suddenly thought i was having a METAMORPHIS. I was bloody shaking. I jumped out of my chair, ran to the bottom of the stairs. and shouted up to my wife and daughter's who had gone to bed earlier. HEEeelp, i think i'm goin. At that moment my daughter appeared at the top of the stairs shouting, what the hell was that, it felt like an earthquake. I replied, "thank god for that" " i thought i was goin". And thats NO BLOODY JOKE.
Jack.
Hi Jack,
Scary !
My friend who lives just down the road thought it was her neighbours upstairs rearranging the furniture. She banged on the ceiling a couple of times and went back to sleep !

Very windy here at the moment, seiling down with rain, forecast is for heavy snow on Monday.
Apparently the Pentagon has just published a report on climate change which says Britain will be like Siberia by 2010.
I look forward to reading it.
Did they tell GW ?
Have to be careful here, isn't it just normal weather ?
The crocuses were just starting to look good ... and the daffs coming on nicely too !
Tomorrow is St Davids Day ... wish you well all you Taffs out there ... how's Swansea these days ?
Being a leap year it's traditional for women to propose marriage today ... hmmm have to be careful what I say ...
Have a good weekend ...

Cheers Paul, youv'e made my ruddy day. It's seilin down ere anall, and blowin a gale. And i've to put my blinkin wheelie bin out yet. I remember in the early 60s, i worked on the middin bins for a couple of years, traipsin down long drives carryin em out on my shoulders all weathers, hail rain or shine. THEY DON'T KNOW THEIR BORN TODAY.
Jack.
THEY DON'T KNOW THEIR BORN TODAY.
Jack.
Too right Jack,
It would be easy to say I blame the parents but it's not their fault.
I'm not a Luddite but I think we have overdosed on technology; I'm of an age where I can remember my grandmother washing clothes by hand (in cold water) and using a mangle before she hung them on the line. Hardly any carbon footprint at all ... though she was a miners wife and they did get free coal, and there was always a roaring fire going at this time of year.
I get the bus/then walk to work, haven't owned a car for years, don't want one, don't need one. I like driving but not that much ...
Paul
For anyone under 40 out there, this is what a "mangle" looks like ...

Aye, my mother was a miners wife Paul, and I, being the younger of four brothers, followed him down the pit. The reason being, he wouldn't allow the other three to go down the pit, because he felt, it was too dangerous. By the time it came my turn he changed his mind, and said, Ok lad, if you think you can hack it, have a go. I did 17 years altogether, 5years up to joining the army, and among other jobs, another 12 years back down the pit, as a Deputy & Shotfirer. As you say free coal, WAS, a hell of an asset. Mum used to wash all the clothes, including all the bedding, using what was called a POSSER. This was made of COPPER and resembled a vegetable COLLANDER, full of small holes, the open end also sealed with a copper plate full of holes. It had a small tubular boss on the small end where a brush handle was inserted. The sweat used to pour down her face as she plunged away at a long modern bath full of clothes. rinsing & wringing by hand, then shoving them through a ruddy great Wringer, even bigger than the one in your picture, with one hand, winding the handle with the other. That was only ONE job among many others that she had to perform in a days work. THAT was the time when the PHRASE, ( A WOMANS WORk IS NEVER DONE), meant something, and was absolutely true.
Jack.
God bless our mothers ... their work is never ending ... thank you mother x

Had a pretty heavy downfall of snow here in LEEDS today. One minute it was sunny, next, it was snowing about 1-15 pm. It only lasted a few minutes though. I thought, that ruddy Paul has put the Moccus on us.

Soon be time for tramping round cemeteries Paul ??

Hi Gordon,
"Soon be time for tramping round cemeteries"
Wish I had the time now ... if I could retire tomorrow I'd be out there first thing.
My bus to work drives past Stonefall every morning and I think about phoning in and getting off the bus and getting some fresh air and taking a few photographs ...
But that won't pay the bills ...
Another month or two and there'll be more light in the evenings so I can stop off on the way home ...
Weekends I'm tied up with domestic duties ...
