We still require transcribers for the Leeds and District Burial Project.

The Leeds General Cemetery (St George's Field, Woodhouse) is the most recent cemetery we have started transcribing and there are in excess of 100, 000 burials, so we need some help. There are still some sections of Harehills and New Wortley Cemeteries that need covering and we have others in the pipeline so if you have a preference for a different area let me know.

Speed is not required, these are long term projects, we would just ask you to be as accurate as possible. Help and advice is always at hand. so if you feel that you could manage to spare an hour or two a week please e-mail me or send a PM for further details.

All the best
Mike.

Hi Anne,
We are always needing Transcribers. We have to E-mail the images to transcribe from, as the individual images are getting quite large, so down loading them from the Internet can take a long time and I can drop a hundred or so onto a CD in a few minutes and send them no problem. I have the following Cemeteries at the moment: New Wortley, Harehills and Leeds General Cemetery, if you have a preference just let me know. I will provide you with a spreadsheet with the relevant fields to fill in.
All the best
Mike.

Hi Mike

I live in Barwick in Elmet, is that an area that needs covering or has it already been done? It would only be very part time. :wave1:

Hi Lyp24
Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately there is nothing specifically for Barwick, the parish registers have already been completed. The closest I have would be Harehills Municipal Cemetery. If you fancy a try at that I can post you out some images. Send me an e-mail or a PM with your postal address and I will pop a CD in the mail to you.

Beckett Street Cemetery has been indexed, but we are looking into the possibility of increasing it to a full transcript if you are interested in helping?
