Anne is the only member of the Bronte family not buried at Haworth.
She was suffering from the early stages of consumption and it was felt that the change of air might help relieve the symptoms. Charlotte requested that her friend Ellen Nussey accompany them on the journey which they began on 24th May 1849. They booked rooms at the Wood's lodgings, No.2 the Cliff, which today is where the Grand Hotel stands. Writer died in a house on this site on May 28th 1849".

2 pics of the house in Hightown road, Cleckheaton where Patrick Bronte lived while vicar at Hartshead church, before the birth of Anne and Charlotte.
Maria and Eliz. I think both were baptised at Hartshead and died young from TB. You could add these pics as an addendum to Anne Bronte's grave.

Thanks Gordon.

The two eldest daughters died whilst at a harsh boarding school in 1825. After their deaths, Patrick brought the other children back to Haworth to live.

Patrick outlived all his children and died in 1861 aged 74.

The bronte sisters all published their books under the pseudonyms Currer (Charlotte), Ellis (Emily) and Acton (Ann) Bell due to the prejudices against female writers at that time.

I used to live with my parents in Oxenhope and travelled through Haworth everyday to and from school/work and it's such a lovely village that I would encourage those who have not visited it to do so and be admire the village for the beautiful scenery and it's preserved history.
